Tarpon, Snook, and Redfish hitting hard
Today, I took out one of my repeat customers, Bill. Bill books a total of 16 trips with me per year, however this was one to remember. We started out Tarpon fishing which were we unsure if it would work out, due to a recent cold front that moved in. It only took about 10 minutes to realize the weather did not affect the bite. We instantly caught and released a 110 pound Tarpon right off the bat. I asked if they wanted another one which the answer was “Hell yes”! 5 minutes later, we were connected to another Tarpon (140 lbs.) which was caught and released after a 1 hour battle! Shortly after our Tarpon fishing, we worked our way back inshore to fish some mangrove shorelines in the Caloosahatchee river. We caught 8 Snook ranging from 30″-35″ with a Redfish mixed in that went 34″. This time of year is the best time to chase migratory Tarpon off the beaches of Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, and Captiva islands. This is also the best time of year to catch Snook in the Caloosahatchee River!
